This week Sound Festival reached new heights with Dame Evelyn Glennie & the New London Chamber Ensemble: Music & Conversation, a sold-out event that offered the audience an opportunity to experience extraordinary music alongside personal reflections of the performers.
Together, they delivered a breathtaking program featuring works by contemporary composers Dobrinka Tabakova, Ailís Ní Ríain (expertly conducted by Darren Bloom), James Keane, and a joint composition by Evelyn Glennie and Philip Shepperd, immersing the audience in a rich tapestry of sound, innovation, and artistry.
What made the evening even more special was the interplay between music and conversation. Between performances, Glennie, Bloom and the NLCE shared their thoughts on the creative process, the power of sound, and the unique joys and challenges of collaboration. Evelyn’s insights into the physical and emotional dimensions of sound, paired with the ensemble’s reflections on their approach to music-making, offered the audience a deeper connection to the performance.
